Pyro FX comes with several pre-making Pyro FX like smoke billowing and Fireball to give artists a start when creating a simulation.
Lighting artists can take advantage of features in Houdini Interactive Photorealistic Rendering (IPR). IPR workflow supports raytracing and Physically Based Rendering (PBR), providing feedback every time the scene changes. Updates will be triggered when a light shader and tweak the parameters or when the object, camera and lights are added, moved or even removed. Artists can drag and drop into the window of IPR and can use "control-click" to access the shader parameters for each part of an image. Snap shots can be taken to compare with another iteration of the shot using features such as "diffing".
Houdini is also support for 3D Stereoscopic in both the viewport and Houdini's image viewer. Houdini stereo camera supports both anaglyph and interlaced stereo and includes controls for horizontal parallax distance and inter-axial. Studio can preview their 3D work from within Houdini and can produce stereo images at render time.
